Dearest gentle nerds, assemble! 🫖✨
Netflix has officially unveiled the first teaser for its upcoming Pride and Prejudice limited series, giving us our very first look at Elizabeth Bennet and the one, the only, Mr. Darcy — and trust us, the yearning is already off the charts.
Starring Emma Corrin as Lizzie Bennet and Jack Lowden as the broodiest man in Derbyshire, this six-part adaptation is galloping toward an Autumn 2026 debut — and it promises to deliver a faithful return to the wit, romance, and razor-sharp social commentary of Jane Austen’s beloved novel.
A New Era of Regency Romance
We are officially in a regency renaissance (a “yearn-aissance,” if you will), and this adaptation aims to sweep longtime Austen devotees and first-time viewers off their feet alike. The series is penned by Dolly Alderton (writer and executive producer) and directed by Euros Lyn, whose work on Heartstopper already proved he understands longing stares better than most.
Alderton called Pride and Prejudice “the blueprint for romantic comedy” — and honestly? She’s right. Enemies-to-lovers? Social chaos? Sharp-tongued heroines? Emotionally constipated men with great coats? Austen walked so the rest could dramatically stride across misty fields.
The Bennets Are STACKED
And oh, the casting! This lineup is positively sparkling:
-
Olivia Colman as the ever-nervous Mrs. Bennet
-
Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet
-
Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet
-
Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins (we are READY)
-
Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley
-
Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham
-
Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet
-
Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley
-
Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourg
Plus, Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery will make their screen debuts as Mary and Kitty Bennet, respectively — and we absolutely love a breakout moment.
A Classic Reborn
Produced by Lookout Point (the powerhouse behind hits like Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack), this adaptation is set to be a lush, classic retelling — no modern gimmicks, no gimmicky twists — just Austen’s razor-sharp dialogue and slow-burn romance brought to life for a new generation.
And in case you missed it: eagle-eyed UK fans recently spotted the teaser playing in cinemas ahead of screenings of Wuthering Heights. Regency fans truly cannot catch a break (emotionally speaking).
Autumn 2026 Cannot Come Soon Enough
For over 200 years, Pride and Prejudice has enchanted readers around the globe. Now, it’s ready to do it all over again — with dramatic declarations, scandalous misunderstandings, and at least one absolutely devastating hand flex (we can dream).
Sharpen your quills, fluff your petticoats, and prepare your group chats.
Darcy season is coming. 💕
