Get ready to put on your shades and crank up the soul—because The Blues Brothers are making a triumphant return, and it all kicks off at San Diego Comic-Con!
In celebration of the iconic film’s 45th anniversary, fans will get a first look at The Blues Brothers: The Escape of Joliet Jake, a brand-new graphic novel that continues the legacy of Jake and Elwood Blues—the legendary duo “on a mission from God.” This thrilling new chapter is more than just a sequel—it’s a loving tribute to the timeless energy, music, and mayhem that made The Blues Brothers a cultural phenomenon.
The SDCC panel is shaping up to be one of the convention’s biggest must-sees. Joining the celebration are writers Luke Pisano (son of Judy Belushi), James Werner, and Stella Aykroyd (daughter of Dan Aykroyd), along with Z2 Comics Editor-in-Chief Rantz Hoseley and President Josh Bernstein. And yes, the man himself, Dan Aykroyd—aka Elwood Blues—is set to appear live and in person to talk all things Blues Brothers!
Attendees will get exclusive insight into the making of the graphic novel, which was overseen by Dan Aykroyd and developed alongside the late Judy Belushi Pisano, the original keeper of the Blues Brothers flame. Featuring art by Felipe Sobriero, The Escape of Joliet Jake is packed with heart, humor, and high-octane hijinks worthy of the original film—and it’s just the beginning. With future plans including new films, television projects, music, and live events, the Blues Brothers universe is officially back in full swing.
