Two fat ladies. Duck and dive. Jump and jive. Few people would see these phrases and fail to connect them to bingo. The much-loved pastime which has endured for decades was made even more iconic thanks to these famous bingo calls. But as bingo adapts to the modern age and shifts ever increasingly to an online world, is it time to think up some new bingo calls that different groups of players can relate to? In an effort to nurture a more diverse range of bingo enthusiasts, developers at online bingo sites could opt for making some new calls for film buffs.

Online Bingo is Designed to Appeal to Wider Demographics

It may seem like a cliché now, but bingo halls in the pre-internet days were associated with retirement homes and middle-aged women. This image is long gone in the internet era, and the modern bingo sites found online are bringing in a younger generation of both sexes along with those who enjoyed the game in the old days. One of the main attractions for long-term players is that the virtual tombola releases online bingo balls one at a time randomly just as it would do in the bingo hall. And this is accompanied by the traditional bingo language and phrases which add to the game’s authenticity.

It’s a commendable thing that these well-known and popular phrases have managed to stand the test of time, but it would also be interesting to introduce some new lingo. Online bingo sites have diversified when it comes to the types of games on offer, so why not mix things up with the bingo calls as well? There could be various themes including sport, television, music, and film.

Which Films Could Work With the New Bingo Calls?

There is certainly a vast range of films that have an association with numbers or even have numbers in the title. Some offerings such as David Fincher’s Se7en, Tim Story’s Fantastic Four, and Joel Schumacher’s 2007 flop, The Number 23 are obvious examples. The operators of bingo sites could think of bingo calls using famous lines or quips about the movies. For instance, the call for the number seven could be “What’s in the box?!”, while the call for 23 could be “Jim Carrey catastrophe, twenty-three”.

Other bingo calls could be based on famous plotlines or characters from the movies. For example, Andy Dufresne’s prison sentence in The Shawshank Redemption is seventeen years, Marty McFly and Doc Brown always traveled thirty years forward or back in the Back to the Future series, and Bryan Mills killed thirty-one bad guys in Taken. Film buffs will relish the opportunity to recount classics such as these, and it could even help reinforce their knowledge of the movies.

Bingo calls have endured over the years, but it could be time to introduce a few new ones and mix up the themes for different groups of people. There are enough options to work with to be able to think of a new and exciting call for every number.
