Get ready to do the Time Warp… again! Fans of The Rocky Horror Show are about to have a brand-new way to celebrate the outrageous cult classic, as the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum is launching a Kickstarter campaign to create the first-ever officially licensed Rocky Horror Show bobbleheads.
The Kickstarter campaign kicks off at midnight Central Time on Friday, September 25, with a fundraising goal of $15,000, and will run through midnight Central Time on Halloween, October 31.
And naturally, the collection wouldn’t be complete without the legendary Dr. Frank-N-Furter!
The proposed lineup features seven iconic characters from Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show: Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Janet, Brad, Rocky, Riff Raff, Magenta, and Columbia. Each character is being transformed into a collectible bobblehead, giving fans a delightfully weird way to bring a little Transsexual Transylvania into their collection.
A Kickstarter-Exclusive Frank-N-Furter
There’s an extra-special incentive for fans ready to jump into the Kickstarter. A Kickstarter-exclusive Dr. Frank-N-Furter bobblehead will only be available to campaign backers.
The figure pays tribute to the unforgettable character originated by Tim Curry, complete with Frank’s iconic black corset, fishnet stockings, pearl necklace, briefs, and platform shoes. The figure will stand on a red base featuring Frank’s name and the Rocky Horror logo, which will also get the bobblehead treatment.
The remaining characters—including Janet, Brad, Rocky, Riff Raff, Magenta, and Columbia—will also be available as part of the campaign.
The bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show. The number of figures ultimately produced will be determined by demand during the Kickstarter campaign.
Time to Get Your Rocky Horror Collection Ready
The timing couldn’t be more appropriate for the gloriously spooky franchise. The Kickstarter launches on September 25, just one day before the anniversary of the original film’s debut, and wraps up on Halloween.
The Rocky Horror Show first premiered in London in 1973 before inspiring the 1975 film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. While the movie initially had a limited reception, it eventually became a legendary cult phenomenon thanks in large part to midnight screenings, audience participation, costumes, callbacks, props, and shadow casts.
Now, more than 50 years after the franchise first invited audiences to embrace their inner weirdness, fans can add some of its most recognizable characters to their shelves.
So grab your fishnets, polish those platform boots, and get ready to do the Time Warp with some seriously collectible bobbleheads!
The Kickstarter campaign launches September 25 at midnight CT and runs through Halloween at midnight CT.
