Age of The Nerd
Hold onto your goggles and gas masks, nerd fam — Netflix is about to drop a steampunk epic that looks ready to shake the animation world to its core. Bass X Machina, a brand-new adult animated series executive produced by and starring Oscar, Emmy, and Tony Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry, is officially hitting Netflix on October 6, 2026 — and it sounds absolutely explosive.
Set in a lawless Steampunk West crawling with ruthless outlaws, deadly machines, and straight-up supernatural nightmares, Bass X Machina follows a father pushed to the brink. To protect his family, he becomes judge, jury, and executioner — but every brutal act of justice threatens to cost him the very people he’s fighting to save. Gritty? Emotional? High-octane? Yes, yes, and YES.
🎙️ A Voice Cast That’s Stacked
Leading the charge is Brian Tyree Henry as Bass, and he’s bringing some seriously powerful friends along for the ride:
-
Janelle Monáe as Glory
-
Tati Gabrielle as Dana
-
Cree Summer as AhniS
-
Chaske Spencer as Lighthorse
-
Currie Graham as Rivenbark
-
Starletta DuPois as Etta
That lineup alone is enough to get us hyped, but wait — there’s more.
🎶 Powered by Wondaland
The series will feature original music from Roman GianArthur and Nate Wonder of Wondaland, meaning this world won’t just look incredible — it’ll sound incredible too. If the title is any indication, expect beats that hit as hard as the bullets flying across this mechanized frontier.
🎬 Behind the Scenes Talent
Alongside Henry, the executive producing team includes LeSean Thomas, Jennifer Wiley-Moxley, and Chad Handley — and the animation will be handled by powerhouse studio Studio Mir, known for delivering sleek, cinematic animation that elevates every project they touch.
🤖 Joining Netflix’s Animation Hall of Fame
Bass X Machina joins Netflix’s already stacked animation slate, including the Emmy-winning Arcane, the visually stunning Blue Eye Samurai, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, Devil May Cry, and upcoming adaptations of Minecraft and Clash of Clans. In other words? It’s in very, very good company.
Mark your calendars for October 6, 2026, because Bass X Machina is revving its engines and riding straight into our watchlists. Steampunk chaos, morally complex heroics, killer music, and an all-star cast?
Yeah. We’re absolutely locked in. 🎬🔥
