STRANGER THINGS Fans, This Is Not a Drill — The Finale Is Hitting Theaters and You Need to Grab Your Seat!

Clear your calendars, grab your Eggos, and prepare your best “mouth-breather” impressions, because Netflix is officially unleashing Stranger Things: The Finale onto the BIG SCREEN this New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day — and yes, it’s happening in over 500 theaters across the U.S. and Canada.

That’s right. After nine years, four mind-melting seasons, and one very stressful wait for Season 5, fans will get to assemble in full nerdy glory to watch the epic final chapter together.

Visit ST5Finale.com to find the full list of cities, theaters, and RSVP info — and do it fast, because these screenings are going to fill up quicker than a Demogorgon in a Hawkins sewer tunnel.

The Final Battle Drops December 31 at 5 PM PT — In Theaters AND On Netflix

The global premiere of Episode 508 — simply titled The Finale (because honestly, what else do you need?) — hits Netflix at 5:00pm PT on December 31, perfectly synced with the start of the theatrical rollout.

Netflix also confirmed the final episode clocks in at 2 hours and 5 minutes, meaning this thing is basically a full-blown movie. The Duffer Brothers even said watching it in theaters is something they’ve dreamed about for years — calling it the “perfect — dare we say bitchin’ — way to celebrate the end of this adventure.”

We cosign.

Stranger Things 5: A Three-Part Sendoff Worthy of the Party

The Duffers aren’t just dropping a finale — they’re staging an entire Hawkins takeover. Season 5 releases in three volumes:

  • Volume 1 — NOW STREAMING (Episodes 501–504)

  • Volume 2 — December 25 (Episodes 505–507)

  • The Finale — December 31 (Episode 508)

All dropping at 5 PM PT, right on schedule to ruin your sleep cycle.

And in case you missed the numbers: before Volume 1 even launched, all four previous seasons smashed their way back into Netflix’s Top 10 simultaneously, a first in Netflix history.

Here’s Where Things Stand in Hawkins (Spoiler-Free)

It’s fall 1987. Hawkins is trashed. The Rifts are open. Vecna is missing (which is somehow worse). Eleven is back on the run. The government is lurking. And the entire party is gearing up for one last, all-or-nothing showdown against a darkness bigger and badder than anything we’ve seen in the Upside Down.

If you’re not stressed, you’re not paying attention.

Your Favorite Cast Is Back — And They’re Bringing Backup

Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke… yeah, basically the whole Hawkins family. Plus Vecna himself, Jamie Campbell Bower.
Oh — and Linda Hamilton is here now. Judgment Day meets the Upside Down. Inject it directly into our eyeballs.

Stranger Things: A Nerd Culture Juggernaut

Since its 2016 debut, Stranger Things has become one of the biggest series in streaming history, turning ’80s nostalgia into a global phenomenon, sending Kate Bush back up the charts 38 years after release, and racking up more awards than Steve Harrington has hair-care tips.

With the fifth and final season rolling out over the holidays — and now a theatrical finale to boot — the franchise is going out with the kind of fanfare only Hawkins could deliver.

And if you want more? There’s plenty:

  • The hit stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow

  • Global Stranger Things Experiences

  • Escape games, books, animated adventures, Netflix House attractions

  • And of course, Stranger Things Day every November 6

The Upside Down is basically a lifestyle at this point.

Ready to Save Hawkins One Last Time?

The clock is ticking, nerds. Grab your seats, rally the party, and prepare to close the portal for good.

Check out ST5Finale.com and RSVP while you still can.

Because this New Year’s Eve… we’re going to the movies in the Upside Down.
