HBO Drops Epic First Trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms — Premiering January 18 on HBO & Max

Winter may not be coming yet, but HBO is heating things up in a big way! During their panel at CCXP Brazil, the network surprised fans with the first official trailer for the highly anticipated new drama series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms — and trust us, this one’s going to hit every Game of Thrones fan right in the feels.

Set long before Jon Snow, Daenerys, and the War of the Five Kings, this brand-new half-hour series returns us to the heart of Westeros — but through a far more intimate, adventurous, and unexpectedly charming lens. The six-episode season officially rides onto screens Sunday, January 18 at 10 PM ET/PT on HBO, with streaming available on HBO Max. New episodes will drop weekly, because yes, we’re all going to be refreshing the app on Sundays again.

🛡️ The Story — Before The Iron Throne Began to Burn

A century prior to the chaos we know and love, the realm was quieter… but no less dangerous. At the center of this tale are two unlikely heroes:

  • Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall — brave, kind-hearted, maybe a little too naïve

  • Egg — his sharp-tongued, pint-sized squire with a secret of his own

The Targaryens still rule. Dragons are still remembered. And the road ahead is paved with destiny, peril, and more than a few legendary names. Adventure, brotherhood, and sword-swinging heroics await — this time, from the ground level of Westeros.

🐉 Stacked Cast of Westerosi Power

The series stars:

  • Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall

  • Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg

  • Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon

  • Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen

  • Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree

  • Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen

  • Shaun Thomas as Raymun Fossoway

  • Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen

  • Edward Ashley as Ser Steffon Fossoway

  • Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle

  • Henry Ashton as Daeron Targaryen

  • Youssef Kerkour as Steely Pate

  • Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Plummer

  • Daniel Monks as Ser Manfred Dondarrion

That’s a lot of noble blood in one lineup — and knowing Westeros, not all of it will stay inside the body.

🖋 From the Mind of George R.R. Martin Himself

The series comes from George R. R. Martin and Ira Parker, with executive producers Sarah Bradshaw, Owen Harris, Ryan Condal, and Vince Gerardis shaping this new chapter of the Seven Kingdoms. Harris and Sarah Adina Smith direct, bringing even more prestige to a story fans have been dying to see adapted.

Sharpen your swords, polish your armor, and prepare to return to the realm that redefined fantasy television.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms arrives January 18.
We’ll be watching — flagons of ale in hand.
