Counting Crows Have A New Documentary Coming Out On HBO

Counting Crows fans will be getting an early Christmas present this year. It was recently revealed that HBO will be releasing a documentary about the band. The film will be centered around frontman Adam Duritz. The film reportedly chronicles the emotional aftermath of the band’s landmark studio album debut, August and Everything After, and the pressures and creative process of making their follow-up album, Recovering the Satellites.

Counting Crows is an American rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Formed in 1991, the band consists of rhythm guitarist David Bryson, drummer  Jim Bogios, and vocalist Adam Duritz.

Counting Crows gained popularity following the release of their first album, August and Everything After (1993). With the breakthrough hit single “Mr. Jones” (1993), the album sold more than seven million copies in the United States. The band received two Grammy Award nominations in 1994, one for “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal” (for “Round Here”) and one for “Best New Artist”. The follow-up album, Recovering the Satellites, reached number one on the US Billboard 200 and topped charts in several other countries. All but one of their subsequent albums reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200 list.

Directed by Amy Scott (Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken), Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately? is part of the premium television network’s Music Box series, created by Bill Simmons, and will debut on HBO Dec. 18.
