Christopher Nolan Sets Sail: The Odyssey Brings Mythic Action to IMAX in 2026

Christopher Nolan is heading back to legend—and back to IMAX in a big way. The visionary filmmaker’s next cinematic event, The Odyssey, is a mythic action epic shot entirely on IMAX film cameras, using brand-new IMAX® film technology, no less. Yes, Nolan is once again pushing the limits of how movies are made—and how they’re meant to be seen.

Bringing Homer’s legendary tale to the big screen like never before, The Odyssey will mark the first time this foundational saga is presented on IMAX® film screens. Filmed across stunning locations around the globe, the movie promises scale, spectacle, and the kind of immersive storytelling Nolan fans crave.

The cast is just as epic as the journey itself. Matt Damon leads an all-star ensemble that includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong’o, with Zendaya and Charlize Theron rounding out the powerhouse lineup.

Produced by Nolan and longtime collaborator Emma Thomas under their Syncopy banner, with Thomas Hayslip serving as executive producer, The Odyssey is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious films of the decade.
