Netflix just dropped a piece of news that sent the Grand Line into chaos — and we mean that in the best way. Tony Award–winning actor and comedy chaos agent Cole Escola (they/them) — yes, that Cole Escola from Oh Mary!, Search Party, and At Home with Amy Sedaris — is officially boarding Season 3 of ONE PIECE as none other than the beloved, flamboyant, fan-favorite Bon Clay.
If you’re already screaming, same.
A quick refresher on Bon Clay for the uninitiated: this isn’t just any pirate. Bon Clay is a dazzling force of nature — a fabulous fighter, a performer with presence, and a dramatic assassin who treats every battle like it deserves a standing ovation. Dangerous, delightful, and impossible to forget. (And yes, Netflix has kindly asked we all refer to the character simply as Bon Clay in coverage — which frankly feels like a fabulous single-name era they fully deserve.)
Season 3 begins production later this year in Cape Town, South Africa — so prepare for more swashbuckling, more found-family feels, and now, a lot more sequins and dramatic kicks.
More cast announcements are on the horizon, so consider this the opening act.
But before Bon Clay steals the spotlight, the adventure continues with Season 2 — ONE PIECE: INTO THE GRAND LINE — officially premiering March 10, 2026 only on Netflix. Warm up your Devil Fruit powers and rewatch your favorite arcs, because the Straw Hats are just getting started.
About ONE PIECE
Netflix’s live-action take on Eiichiro Oda’s legendary manga — the best-selling manga of all time with 500M+ copies sold — launched in 2023 and immediately went full Pirate King on the streaming charts. It held strong in the Global Top 10 for eight weeks, hit #1 in over 75 countries (including becoming the first-ever Netflix English-language series to debut at #1 in Japan), and racked up nearly 100M views. Not bad for a rookie crew.
The series also scored 11 Children’s & Family Emmy nominations, and the world of the live-action show keeps expanding IRL with merch, LEGO sets, Moose Toys, and an immersive ONE PIECE experience coming to Netflix House.
With Seasons 2 and 3 on the way, the adventure is nowhere near slowing down.
Behind the scenes, Season 3 is helmed by co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers Joe Tracz & Ian Stokes, with executive producers Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda returning to ensure this voyage stays legendary.
Stay in the Loop, Nakama
