Audible is turning up the suspense this fall with the return of The Prophecy, the hit audio drama that blends mystery, faith, and supernatural danger into a binge-worthy sonic experience. Season two drops September 25, exclusively on Audible, and Emmy-winning powerhouse Kerry Washington (Scandal, Django Unchained, The Six Triple Eight) is once again pulling double duty as executive producer and star, reprising her role as Dr. Virginia Edwards.
Produced by Audible in partnership with Simpson Street and QCODE, the new season brings back Alano Miller (Underground) and introduces an impressive lineup of fresh talent, including Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Dulé Hill (Psych), Rhenzy Feliz (The Penguin), Ebony Obsidian (If Beale Street Could Talk), Eme Ikwuakor (On My Block), Yvette Nicole Brown (Community), Annie Gonzalez (Flamin’ Hot), Guillermo Diaz (Scandal), Crystal Fox (The Haves and the Have Nots), Roz Stanley (Girl, Chill), and Mara Shuster-Lefkowitz (Searching for Sisterhood). Series creator Randy McKinnon is back steering the ship, with Malakai (The Chi) directing and Diandra Pendleton-Thompson (Star Trek: Prodigy) on writing duties.
“This season pushes the boundaries of what we did in season one—more intrigue, higher stakes, and an even more immersive world,” Washington says. “Virginia’s journey this time around is deeper, darker, and even more dangerous, and I can’t wait for listeners to experience it.”
McKinnon promises that season two delivers on fan expectations and then some: “We’ve expanded the Prophecy universe with new characters and storylines, and our cast absolutely knocked it out of the park. This is audio storytelling on steroids.”
Picking up after the “provocative and compelling” (E! News) first season, the new chapter finds Virginia coming to terms with a shocking truth—her son Joshua may hold the key to humanity’s survival. Reunited with her husband, she soon faces a ruthless new enemy: billionaire cult leader Luther Bell (Esposito), whose rise to power could spell doom for the world. Guided by chilling visions, Virginia has just 30 days to unravel the Prophecy and stop Bell, with help from trusted allies Moses (Hill), Samson (Feliz), and Delilah (Obsidian). Their dangerous journey through the Deep South will test their faith, their trust, and their very will to survive.
The Prophecy joins Audible’s growing roster of high-profile, full-cast originals, which includes George Orwell’s 1984 (Andrew Garfield, Cynthia Erivo, Andrew Scott, Tom Hardy), The Big Fix: A Jack Bergin Mystery (Jon Hamm, Ana de la Reguera, Alia Shawkat), The Boar’s Nest (Mandy Moore, Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and The Safe Man (Jack Quaid, Titus Welliver).
Season two of The Prophecy launches September 25 exclusively on Audible. More details are available at audible.com/TheProphecy2.
