AEW Is Taking Over The Former ECW Arena In Philadelphia This Summer

All Elite Wrestling is taking over the former ECW Arena this summer. Philadelphia has always been a hot spot for professional wrestling, from WWE at the Philadelphia Spectrum in the 1970s and 1980s to the era of ECW in the 1990s, Philly knows a thing or two about fighting.

The former ECW Arena is now known as the 2300 Arena and continues to host numerous wrestling events annually. This summer, AEW has a residency there.  AEW was founded in 2019 by Tony Khan, with professional wrestlers Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, and the Jackson brothers— Matt and Nick—serving as initial co-executive vice presidents, following the success of the independent wrestling event All In in 2018.

Tony Khan, the booker of AEW, grew up a wrestling fan and witnessed many matches at the ECW Arena. The residency of AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision marks the first time in history that AEW events have been held at the historic venue.   These events are in addition to the previously announced ROH Death Before Dishonor event on Friday, September 5.

The residency dates are as follows:

Wednesday, August 27 – AEW Dynamite
Saturday, August 30 – AEW Collision
Wednesday, September 3 – AEW Dynamite
Friday, September 5 – ROH Death Before Dishonor
Saturday, September 6 – AEW Collision
Wednesday, September 10 – AEW Dynamite
Thursday, September 11 – Special Taping of AEW Collision
